RG 1/144 WIP- RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam

I can't even remember when I bought this. Though it's probably been sitting in the pile for two years or so.

So apparently, it has the special Magnetic Coating parts on a separate runner and not mentioned in the original manual. I got a bad feeling I'll forget about the fact later on, so I decided to stick them on right away.

Four of the four ankle guards I've built from the RG RX-78-2 had mold defects so I'm assuming it's not a one off thing. Neither of these from the G-3 had the defect though. It's very good to know Bandai is constantly improving their molds.

I was rather disappointed it uses the same sticker sheet as RX-78-2 unlike the Premium Bandai RG Astray Blue Frame which had its own dedicated sheet. A pleasant surprise though was a little waterslide sheet with G-3 decals.

I wanted all units to have a different weapon. Prototype Gundam has its own Beam Rifle, but G-3's is identical to Gundam's, so I decided to give it a Hyper Bazooka instead.

Four down, three to go!

RG 1/144 WIP- RX-78-2 Gundam

After roughly two years as a Gunpla builder, I'd finally gotten around to build Gundam.

Other than some paint and panel lines, this was strictly a straight build. Although the actual span of the project lasted nearly a month because I had a lot of things going on during the build, I only spent roughly three work-days on this.

Custom RG 1/144 WIP- RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam

The first of my RX-78 Series project!
I hope I get off to a good start.
This seems like a fairly common build with most people simply changing the color scheme.
I decided to take it a bit further though by doing a few simple mods to more closely match the original design.

I'm not all that good a chiseling, and pretty sure I'll never get all the holes aligned if I did them separately. So I cut out big holes, and stuck plaplates inside. It should be much easier to align everything now.

Just a case of filing down the excess, and it's good to go.

I don't know what the hell Okawara was thinking, but Unit 1's forearms are different from all the others'. That needs some improvising.

The first batch of parts are finally dry.
Segregating the parts by color turned out to be much trickier than I first thought, so it's taking longer than expected.

Finished the new right side skirt and the last batch of black parts are finally finished.
After this, the red and grays.

One last spurt putting everything together and decals as a finishing touch.
To sum things up, from the base kit, I added grills on the ankle armor, redid the arms to have contours, extended the right side skirt, and changed a few details on the rifle.

Two down, five to go.

HG 1/144 WIP- FA-78-3 Full Armor Gundam 7th

The seventh in my RX-78 Series project.
This is actually an old build that i decided to rework.
I redid the panel lines, closed the seams, got rid of the stickers and painted the details, and added some decals.

I think it looks much better now.

Laplace's Box Papercraft

If you're like me, you went nuts when you saw the UC Charter pencil holder that Bandai showed off earlier this year.

If you're even more like me, you're not too keen on the idea of spending 3000JPY on a pencil holder...

Thus, I made this during my free time; a little papercraft model.
I've included a guide for laying out the parts on the first page.
Printing as-is will make a roughly 1/20 scale model; the same as the PBandai version.
If you plan to use it a basis for making props for your Gundams:
print in 42% scale for 1/48, 33% scale for 1/60, 20% scale for 1/100, and 14% scale for 1/144.
I plan on updating the center panel once i find a higher quality image. Maybe someone can help me out with this? Give me a holler.

Enjoy!
